This month we have been included in the Future Trends issues of Computer Arts Projects!

In the issue we are featured in a showcase that touches on the idea of the direction that design may go in the future. Upcoming designers from all over the world are represented and we were lucky enough to be included. The work used is from our "World in One City" exhibition along with our finalist piece from the Konica Minolta design competition.

In addition to this david gave a small interview.

Behind Closed Doors:

For the Titan Illustration in Design International Competition.

This image is a humorous take on the organized chaos and day to day life of people in a communal space, like an apartment building.. It is intended to show the varied lifestyle and antics of a broad spectrum of people who live in close quarters, and to illustrate the fascination with peoples' private lives that society has today. The overall aim is simply to show the viewer what goes on 'behind closed doors'.

the theme as you can tell is community, for this we wanted to show a very close urban community like those of brooklyn and little italy.

Narrow streets littered with washing, people leaning out of windows talking, on their way to work.

The core of a community is its people and this is what we wanted to show!

The theme for this design was " The future of graphic design"

Our idea was simple its not technology that changes design , its the ideas!

So with taking current environmental issues into context, we depicted a modern city bustling with ideas. These ideas are constantly being used and re-used with the times.

As happens now, ideas are new then they become retro , then classical and finally someone revamps the idea and they are modern once again

Terra Gauda Wine Competition Finalist!

This design was for the 2008 Francisco Mantecon design competition.

The brief for this competition is simple: to design a poster for the wine company Bodegas Terras Guada.

With no limitations on the subject matter we could depict, we decided wine being enjoyed at a civilized dinner party.

Using a classical style, not relying on large amounts of tone but using simple colours and shapes to create the image.

Poster for Aspen Grove gig at the bar fly in Liverpool, we wanted an idea that wasn't just the names of bands of a solid colour like everyone else does!!
So to give the text a context to sit in, we created an old west style oil spill!!.
As well as the original we have some photos of the poster around Liverpool.

Recently we curated an exhibition in the heart of Liverpool entitled "The World In One City".
Each artist was given the title of a song that held the name of a city with its name, and was asked to illustrate a piece based on this idea utilising some of the lyrics within the piece.
Here are our contributions.

Liverpool Postcards Capital of Culture 2008

Liverpool's famous river Mersey Ferry Crossing.

These are the first five in a series of Postcards based upon the city of Liverpool.

At the top we have "the Tate" this piece based on the Tate art gallery has a recurring maze pattern behind the gallery's logo, as a commentary on the sometimes confusing yet inspirational nature of art.

To our left here, is the famous "Liver building" i really wanted to keep the look of this listed building , but giving it a much more free and abstract look that show the vibrancy of this city.

To our right here is the " Metropolitan cathedral of christ the king" this is such an important building within the city, so i wanted to keep the look true to such a majestic building but add a colourful element to such a strict and regemented building. So i treated it like an architects drawing and added colorful dimensions and angles to create a sense of flair.

Above to the left is "Matthew st" Liverpool's Matthew st is most famous for its clubs and bars, its music scene and the cavern. i wanted to show its diversity and musical vibrance, a drew a quick sketch of the entrance to the street including the people in it at the time. and then accentuated it with brush strokes and musicians names hidden amongst them to really show its colorful nature. and as a final touch i emblazoned the Matthew st sign in the same colours across the center to help bring the piece together.

The last piece is the "Anglican Cathedral" , the same way as the Metropolitan cathedral, this building is a focal point within Liverpool it stands out looming over the skyline, but nestled deep within the hustle and bustle of the city. I wanted to show this, so i kind of used a reveal effect only showing sections of the image that the spray marks overlay. show the elegance of the cathedral along with its urban significance.
